Dear Friends,

Last night I attended the first meeting of the Guild, tonight the choir begins their regular Thursday evening practices.  The Men’s Club has already had several meetings as have the Youth Organisations and the Thursday Club begins next week.

All these activities are the very visible sign of the church swinging into action for another winter session and how lovely this is.  Remember that through our many organisations we are privileged to welcome many people into our halls, hoping that some day they may find their way to worship with us on a Sunday.

Remembering what happens on a Sunday we realise that the church has not been on holiday over the summer months, the worship which is central to all we are, has continued.  This in turn brings us fellowship, the peace of God, the challenge of his word, the grace of Christ and his living presence to inspire and change us.

I need not tell you how pleased I was that as a result of your generous response of £785 at our Harvest Thanksgiving service we have enabled Christian aid to purchase enough cement to build a well.  This is our first gift to the ‘Clean Water Project’ and it will bring hope and health to some of the poorest people on earth.  It is on their behalf that I thank you for your generosity, your response to an important part of the Gospel message.

With every good wish and blessing

Yours sincerely,

Ian G. Wotherspoon

GUIDES, BROWNIES AND RAINBOWS

The Guides, Brownies and Rainbows have now started back after the summer break.  The Guides attended an international summer camp in Hull and all girls enjoyed themselves with a varied programme of activities.  The girls who went gliding said it was the best experience ever.

We have increased our numbers in all sections and any girl who wishes to join will be made very welcome.  Included in our programme until Christmas is badge work, craft work, themed evenings and a visit to the Kings in Glasgow to see the Scout and Guide show.  If you require any information on any of the sections please do not hesitate to phone me.

Due to increased numbers we urgently need more helpers with all three units.  If you are interested, or know someone who would be, in becoming either a Guider or Unit Helper please phone me and I can give you more information.

Once again we are raising funds using the Webb Ivory Christmas catalogue.  If you wish to see the catalogue which includes various gift ideas along with Christmas items please contact myself or any member of the Rainbows, Brownies or Guides.  Alexis Crichton  (01236 755222)
