Dear Friends,

The main events in November are the Christmas Fayre and the concert with the Salvation Army Band.

The Christmas Fayre is on Saturday 16th November from 12.30 – 3.00 p.m.  in Coatbridge High School.  I hardly need stress how important this is.  Every year we manage to raise a very significant amount of money from this event.  This can only be achieved with your support and the support of the community.

The Fayre is and event which not only raises money but gives the church some good publicity and draws on our many friends within the community who are not members, but willingly support us.

Please give generously to the stalls as you always have in the past and, above all, encourage your friends and neighbours to come along. – Note the earlier start this year!

The Salvation Army Band Concert on Friday 29th November should be a very enjoyable evening, the church being an excellent venue for the band.  It will be a privilege to welcome the band and, I hope a large audience on that occasion.

The old story is that the church is always looking for money, and I suppose that there is some truth in that, but fortunately we can often raise very valuable funds and enjoy fun and fellowship at the same time.  I am sure this will be true of both the Fayre and the Concert.  On the 16th when it is all over many of the stall-holders and the tea room team will be very tired, but in the end we will all have enjoyed the day.

The concert will involve effort too, but I am sure the music will more than compensate for the effort.

Christmas is already drawing near and there will be details of the Christmas Services next month.

With best wishes and every blessing,

Yours sincerely,

Ian G. Wotherspoon

P.S. Remember the service on Sunday 10th November starts at 10.45 a.m. and it would be helpful if the congregation could be seated by 10.40 a.m.

The Anchor Boys recently attended the Adventure Zone and an enjoyable evening was had by all.  They are now working towards their competition which is to make a 3D model of an Anchor Boy. The Halloween party is also coming up with the best costume always a difficult decision.

The Juniors are currently practising for various competitions such as the PA. They did take part in the Top team Quiz and reached the semi-finals. Their Halloween celebrations will include a ghost walk round Drumpellier Loch. The football season has now started and we have joined with the 6th Airdrie company to allow the boys a game.

The Company Section are working on badge work along with preparing for vaulting and squad drill competitions.  They have taken part in the Top team Quiz, results are unknown at this time.

All sections will take part in the Battalion Queen’s Jubilee Fun Run on Saturday 2nd November at Drumpellier Park.  Anybody who wishes to contribute should see any boy or officer.

We are running another of our disco’s on Friday 15th November. Tickets are now available from officers.

All sections will be on parade on Sunday 10th November. Boys should be at the church at 10.20am. Anchor Boys will go out with the Sunday School during the service. Jim Elliot, Captain
